This recipe is going to look different from the one on the back of the brownie box mix. To enhance the flavor, some ingredients have been omitted and other ingredients have been added.

To make these peanut butter chocolate brownies, you’ll need the following ingredients:

INgredients for peanut butter fudge brownies on a marble countertop - box mix, peanut butter chips, eggs, salt, water, vanilla, egg yolk, frosting, melted butter and peanut butter.

  • ⅔ cup of melted butter
  • ¼ cup of water
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
  • 1 Pillsbury chocolate fudge brownie mix (18.4 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1 cup of peanut butter chips
  • 1 tub of Pillsbury sugar-free chocolate fudge frosting (15 ounces)
  • ⅓ cup of creamy peanut butter

You’ll also need a 13 x 9-inch baking pan, a piece of parchment paper, a hand mixer, and a piping bag.

How to make peanut butter fudge brownies from a box mix

Please note that the ingredients in this recipe specify an 18.4-ounce Pillsbury chocolate fudge brownie box mix. You can use any brand of brownie mix that is the same size.

If you substitute another brand, use the amount of water called for on that box. Substitute the oil with an equal amount of melted butter, and add one extra egg yolk.

Start by preheating the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

Place the eggs, egg yolk, vanilla, water, and melted butter in a large bowl.

Use a hand mixer to beat the ingredients on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Add the boxed brownie mix and 1 teaspoon of salt into the egg and butter mixture.

Reduce the speed to low and gently beat just until the brownie mix is incorporated – about 1-2 minutes.

Use a spatula to fold in the peanut butter chips. Make sure they are evenly dispersed throughout the brownie batter.

Spread the peanut butter brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top of the batter with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 31-34 minutes. Note that this amount of time is 3 minutes more than the box asks for. This accounts for the added ingredients.

You’ll know the chocolate peanut butter brownies are cooked when a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownie pan comes out clean.

Remove the pan from the oven and let the brownies begin to cool in the pan for 15 minutes.

Use the edges of the parchment paper to remove the brownies from the baking pan. Transfer them to a wire rack, and allow them to cool completely.

Spread the chocolate fudge frosting mix over the cooled peanut butter brownies.

Put the creamy peanut butter into a piping bag. Snip off the small end of the bag with kitchen scissors and twist the top end so that it is tightly closed.

Drizzle the peanut butter over the top of the brownies to decorate them and add flavor.
