How to make this white chocolate macadamia recipe
Not only are these decadent bars perfect for a crowd, they are also very easy to prepare!
Start by preheating the oven to 375°F (190° C). Grease a 9 x 13-inch oven-proof baking pan.
Place the butter and brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Gently cook for 5 minutes, stirring often, until the butter has melted.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and pour the brown sugar mixture in a large mixing bowl.
Add the pure vanilla extract and eggs. Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat on a medium speed until combined.
Stir in the flour and baking powder. Beat on a low speed until the batter is smooth and everything is well incorporated. Be sure not to over-mix the flour.
Add 1/2 cup of the chopped macadamia nuts and 3/4 cup of the white chocolate morsels.
Stir until both are well incorporated, then pour the batter into the greased baking dish.
Sprinkle the rest of the chopped macadamia nuts over the top of the batter. Reserve the remainder of the white chocolate morsels for later.
Cook in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is just starting to brown.
Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the remainder of the white chocolate morsels over the top.
Cook for 5 minutes more until the top is lightly browned, the white chocolate is soft, and the center of the bars is lightly set.
Note: Make sure to add the white chocolate morsels at the end of the baking time, and not when you add the macadamia nuts. If you add the white chocolate soon, it will burn.
The bars should have a soft texture. Be careful not to over-bake them, as the bars will firm up a little after baking. If you bake them too long, they will end up very hard.
Cool for 30 minutes, then cut into 24 bars and serve. Store any unused bars in an airtight container for 3 days. The bars can also be frozen.
