Ingredients for banana nut breakfast bars

To make these banana walnut bars, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon of kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • ¾ cups of brown sugar
  • 2 cups of rolled oats
  • ¾ cup of chopped walnuts
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cups of unsweetened apple sauce
  • 3 medium bananas (mashed)
  • 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

How to make banana nut breakfast bars

The bars are incredibly easy to make.

Prep steps

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Mash the bananas and set them aside.

Dry ingredients

Flour, salt, baking soda, walnuts, brown sugar and cinnamon in a large glass bowl.

  • Place the flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, brown sugar, rolled oats, and walnuts in a large mixing bowl.
  • Stir to combine well.

Wet ingredients

Eggs, applesauce, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract in a metal mixing bowl.

  • Place the eggs, applesauce, bananas, and vanilla extract in another mixing bowl.
  • Stir to combine.

Dry and wet ingredients mixed together to make the banana nut batter.

 

Make the banana bread batter

  • Combine the dry and wet ingredients in one bowl.
  • Stir until everything is well combined, making sure the flour is mixed in.

Bake
