Strawberry Belgian Waffles Recipe – Ready in Less than 15 Minutes

These strawberry Belgian waffles are on the table in less than 15 minutes. It makes them the newest addition to my list of 30 minute meals!

I recently was given my mother’s Belgian waffle maker and knew I had to put it to good use. Compared to American waffles, true Belgian waffles are larger in size with deeper pockets (perfect for that necessary drizzle of pure maple syrup).

Keep reading to learn how to make these fluffy Belgian waffles, that make the perfect option for a sweeter breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients for this strawberry Belgian waffles recipe

Start by assembling all your ingredients. Don’t skimp on these. I used a good quality vegetable oil, buttermilk, and pure vanilla extract.

The better the ingredients, the better your waffles will taste, especially for something that is very light in flavor like these Belgian waffles with fruit.

Flour, baking powder, oil, seasonings, vanilla extract, egg and strawberries.

How to make this Belgian waffle with strawberries recipe

Start by mixing my dry ingredients. Once they’re mixed, create a well in the center of the dry mixture.

Next, add the oil, strawberries, buttermilk, egg and vanilla extract to a blender and pulse until smooth.

A well in flour in a bowl near a whisk and blender.

Add the strawberry puréed ingredients to the well in your dry mixture and mix it up well. The batter will be quite thick; I keep mine somewhat thick so that it stays together in the waffle maker.Adding blended strawberries, egg and oil to flour with a whisk in a bowl.

The next step is to heat up your Belgian waffle maker and add the mix. My recipe makes four waffles and I used between ¼-⅓ cup for each waffle.

Tip: Just over ¼ cup of batter would be perfect.Waffle batter with Misto oil sprayer and Belgian waffle maker.

I sprayed each section of the waffle maker top and bottom with olive oil in my Misto olive oil sprayer. It made the inside of the waffle maker a cinch to clean up after the waffles were done.

Out they came, perfect, plump and look at the size of those craters! They hold the pure maple syrup beautifully. Can’t wait to try them!

Light, fluffy, and just a hint of the tartness of the buttermilk. The strawberries added a lightly pink color to the inside and some fresh fruity taste too.

The size is just perfect for a weekend breakfast or brunch. Add some confectioner’s sugar to the top and dig in folks…breakfast morning delight!

I’d say these were pretty much a success. One thing I might do next time is to also have a few finely chopped strawberries as well as the pureed mix to add to the batter for a tiny bit more color.

But the taste? TO DIE FOR. So good. Not too rich, very light…just perfect! Add some fresh fruit and a pretty place setting. This is the weekend folks.  Make is special!
