Ingredients for the paleo and soy-free Worcestershire sauce
To make this healthy Worcestershire sauce without soy, you’ll need the following ingredients:

- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of water
- 2 tablespoons of coconut aminos
- 1 tablespoon of fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon of coconut sugar
- 1 tablespoon of tamarind paste
- ¼ tsp each of these spices: ground ginger, mustard powder, onion powder, garlic powder
- ⅛ tsp of ground cinnamon
- a pinch of cracked black pepper
You’ll also need a Mason jar with a lid or other tight-fitting jar.
How to make a soy-free Worcestershire sauce
The recipe could not be easier to make. It’s ready in less than 5 minutes!
Step 1. Place all of the ingredients into a large jar. A Mason jar with a tight-fitting lid is ideal.

Step 2. Give the jar a good shake so that all the spices get incorporated into the liquids.
Step 3. Pour the mixture into a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring the liquid to a boil and cook for one minute.
Step 4. Pour the mixture into an airtight container and store it in the fridge. This mini mason jar shown in the picture below is just the right size to hold about one cup of the Paleo Worcestershire Sauce.

Ingredients
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar

Instructions
- Place all of the ingredients into a Mason jar with a tight-fitting lid.
- Shake well to combine the spices with the liquids.
- Pour the mixture into a small pot on the stove over medium-high heat.
- Bring the ingredients to a boil and cook for 1 minute.
- Pour the mixture into an air-tight Mason jar and store in the fridge.
Notes
The mixture will last at least as long as the oldest date on your ingredients.
Check to see when the coconut aminos or fish sauce expires. There is really nothing to go wrong in the sauce.

Why do you say that Worcestershire sauce has soy in it? Lea & Perrins seems to not have any soy ingredients.

Thank you for the comment. I should have worded it that Worcestershire sauce is derived from soy, not contains it. It also contains sugar and molasses, which is not allowed on Paleo. The purpose of the recipe is to make it acceptable on a paleo diet. I have updated the post.
