Tips for peeling and slicing a pineapple

A pineapple looks as though it is difficult to peel and core, but you can do it in just minutes if you follow these steps.

peeled and cored pineapple

  1. Place the pineapple on it’s side and use a large sharp knife to cut off the top and the base, making the cut very straight. (You can plant the pineapple top in soil when you’re done with it!)
  2. Run your knife to down over the outside, taking peel off the outside of the pineapple.
  3. Use a smaller paring knife to remove the brown eyes to make it look nicer.
  4. Turn the pineapple and stand it on the bottom edge of the fruit.
  5. Cut down through the center of the fruit with your knife and then again so that you have four quarters.
  6. Use the knife on an angle on each quarter to remove the core.
  7. Cut each quarter in half giving you 8 pieces to grill.
  8. You can also continue cutting the pineapple into pieces to use in fruit salads or as kebabs.
