Keto Nutella Smoothie – Chocolate Hazelnut Delight

This Keto Nutella smoothie is one of my favorite breakfast recipes and is the perfect way to start the day on Nutella day.

February 5 is considered Nutella day. Are you a Nutella fan? I am and so is my whole family.

We love the chocolate hazel nut spread and often use it in recipes, from dessert to healthy snacks, to dipping right in with a big ole spoon.

Wait a minute, you say! Nutella contains both sugar and dairy, so how can this smoothie fit into a keto diet?

Well, I have a few tricks up my sleeve for this recipe substitute. But don’t worry, the smoothie is delicious, full of nutrition and looks beautiful too.

Smoothie with a straw and words Paleo Nutella Smoothie.

This Keto Nutella Smoothie is a fabulous way to start your morning.

My ingredient substitutes for this delicious drink are Lite Coconut Milk, and Chocolate hazelnut NutButter (also known in my house as Keto Nutella).

Add in a frozen banana and some frozen strawberries, a free range egg yolk, a bit of cocoa powder. (Use 100% organic cocoa powder.)

Add some vanilla extract and you have a drink that will keep you full all morning long. Plus it tastes like a milk shake. Win-Win in my book!

A note on Paleo diets:  I use pure vanilla extract in this recipe. If you follow a Paleo diet, this recipe is not strictly Paleo, since it contains alcohol. It can be omitted, or you can use a vanilla pod if you wish to stick to a pure Paleo diet. Also be sure to check the label of  your nut butter. Not all are paleo, but most are fine for a keto diet.

I love smoothies.  There are super fast to prepare (everything gets dumped into a blender) and a few pulses and you are good to go.

I like to serve smoothies in cute Mason Jar mugs. They make me think that I am having breakfast outside at a trendy bistro and they are the perfect size for two smoothies, which this recipe makes.

This Keto Nutella smoothie has a wonderful taste of chocolate and hazelnut with a healthy addition of fresh fruit.

The egg yolk gives some extra protein and helps to keep you full and the whole concoction is rich and creamy.  Garnish it with some shavings of pure dark baking chocolate for a great presentation and bit of extra chocolate flavor.

With my Keto substitutes you can enjoy the delicious flavor of Nutella without the guilt of breaking your eating plan.Smoothie in a mason jar with a straw and chocolate shavings.

Trust me on this one.  You will NOT miss the Nutella. This is one delicious drink folks! Check out this post to see all the ways that I have used this chocolate hazelnut Nut Butter.
