I am a turkey lover. I cook it all year long and of course on Thanksgiving. For years, I also cooked a turkey at Christmas time, but of the last few years, I have made a baked ham instead, since my husband is very fond of it.
Printable recipe: Honey and Spice Glazed Ham
This recipe for honey and spice glazed ham is full of flavor and was a huge hit this year. It is also wonderful later for sandwiches, casseroles or easy lunches. And ham and eggs of course…who can forget that favorite?
Preheat the oven to 325 º F. Combine the sugars and spices in a saucepan.
Add the honey and water and stir. Cook for a minute or so over low heat until well combined.
Spread this glaze over the whole of the outside of the ham. Pick it up and coat the bottom so that the whole ham is coated with the glaze. Be sure that some of the glaze gets inside the slices of the ham for best taste.
Place the ham in the preheated oven and cook for 15-20 minutes per pound. Raise the heat to 400 degrees and cook for an extra 15 minutes to make sure the ham is well glazed.
Serve with baked, brown sugar pineapple rings and vegetables of your choice.
