Asian Sesame Seed Dressing

This Asian sesame seed dressing is lightened up in calories but big in flavor.  It is perfect for a salad dressing and also makes a nice topping for protein.

We eat a lot of salads in our house since we like to watch our weight.

I have been trying to keep carbs to a minimum. Having a big salad instead of pasta, rice or potatoes for my evening meal fills up the plate and pleases my eyes as well as my stomach.

I get very tired of store bought light dressings, so I’m always trying out new home made dressings to top our salads. They have none of the chemicals of retail dressings and taste amazing, as well.

This home made Asian sesame seed dressing is light in calories but very big on flavor. It's a cinch to make and so tasty. recipesjust4u.com

This Asian sesame seed dressing gives an oriental taste to any salad.

The dressing could not be easier to make.  Assemble the ingredients before you start to make sure you have them all on hand.

This recipe has a long list of ingredients, but don’t let that stop you.  Making it is a cinch once you have gathered them all together.

The highlights of the flavors are fresh garlic and ginger, and both toasted sesame seeds and poppy seeds.

Honey adds some sweetness and rice vinegar gives it a nice tangy taste.Ingredients for Asian Sesame seed dressing

Place everything into a jar.  I used a medium sized Mason jar with a lid and handle.

It has a wide mouth for adding the ingredients and the handle makes it easy to mix everything together. It also acts as a storage container too, since it has a lid.

I can’t wait to blend all these delicious looking ingredients!Put everything into a jar

Give the jar a shake and you are done.  I told you it was easy!

Shake well and you have an Asian Sesame seed dressing

The dressing is just wonderful.  It is both sweet and tangy with a bit of texture from the poppy seeds and sesame seeds.

It’s perfect on a salad with fruit.  (I used grapefruit and chicken in mine today and it was yummy) and it has a distinct Asian feel to it.  I’ll be making this again!

The dressing got lightened up quite a bit.  Instead of using mainly oil, the volume comes from rice vinegar and water.

In place of sugar, I used a brown sugar replacement.  But add all those other flavorful ingredients together, and you have a light dressing made in full flavor heaven!
